weekend bits & bobs

Lovely weekend. The rain let up (went away completely) and it was clear skies and lots of sunlight mixed in with some amazing sunsets to boot. This is certainly my favorite time of the year in LA. While many elsewhere are freezing or under snow we have these beauties hanging over our heads whilst we walk around in cardigans with the temperature lingering in the low 80s. I know, I know.

Rode my bike to the local Farmer's Market for flowers. Hit up the current exhibition of recent acquisitions at the MoCA-Grand Ave. Vegged out with friends and pizza for some True Blood. Had an amazing brunch with my best bud at Salt's Cure. Came across a new (or at least new to me) mural during an afternoon walking about the Arts District. And best of all had some quality time with this handsome pup.

#nofilter as you kids like to say. (Ugh, I really wish you would stop that).

whispers

Very much into soft pink at the moment. Almost mauve, but not quite as committed to violet.  A whisper of a color.

October came and went and now November is charging by like a wild rhino. The holidays are upon us and I am already sick and tired of the commercialism of it all.
I shouldn't say that, it might be bad for business.

It was gray and rainy today and yesterday and it looks like we are in for more tomorrow. I miss Paris. This weather always makes me long for more. Or rather for different.
Different locale, different time, different life.

Good weather for running. And thinking. And hopefully for action.

rien de rien

Il y a une fois I was jumping back wholeheartedly. This happened instead.

Thinking about renaming this guy rien de rien...

Perhaps it should just be the descriptor.

free and easy, gentle, gentle

No need to explain. Let's leave it at that. I'd rather just jump down the rabbit-hole.

I had a dream my hair looked like this -

I woke up and it was in tangles. Nice dream. Would have been lovely.

Perhaps one day I'll tell you the entire story. Hopefully over bourbon on a nice summer night siting somewhere in New York City.

I started this in LA as I was about to move to New York. Now I am in New York thinking about moving to LA. Dammit.

Dammit it all.

Bon nuit, babies.

Going, going, gone.

Going, going, gone. Just kidding, I don't want to go. Please don't make me go. Should I go?
Why is this so difficult?

dawn
In less than a week I will be leaving my home for good. I have left before, but I have always known I would return, dress rehearsals for this big one. And while I am heading to the most exciting place in the world, I cannot help but feel a heavy ache in my heart for all the magic I am leaving behind.

Los Angeles.

I've loved you, I've hated you, I've long wished to get away from you, I've defended you, discarded you, fought you, run far away, come running back to you, in love, out of love, in spite of love, in love with only myself, in love with your silly light, sitting pretty on a hill, sitting high in a tower, childhood whims in the sun, smiling with shitty people, crying in cars, laughing in cars, jasmine in night air, dancing in the dark, crawling down sixth street, spinning atop glendower, balmy skin on beaches, double-doubles, faux friends, kid stuff, dear friends, good times.

Yup, despite it all, good times. Despite your faults, you are home. And no mater what, where, or how I end up, I am undeniably a product of what you are, whatever that is. Thanks for a charmed youth spent under your glorious sun.

Andiamo

Testing, testing. Here I am and here we go.
